History

Ticengo, also known as 'Tisènch' in the Soresinese dialect, has an ancient history that dates back to the Roman period. In the Middle Ages, the territory of Ticengo was included in the Pieve di Somaglia, while later from the XV century, it was under the dominion of the Visconti and Sforza families. Over the centuries, Ticengo has experienced several historical events that have contributed to its evolution. In 2004, the coat of arms and flag of the municipality were granted by the decree of the President of the Republic, which represented the history and tradition of the territory. The castle represented the presence of an ancient fortification, the purse was the attribute of Saint Omobono Tucenghi, while the scissors symbolized his first tailoring activity.

The territory of Ticengo is crossed by the former State Road 235 of Orzinuovi and the provincial road 45 Trigolo-Ticengo. In the past, the locality was served by the stop of the Lodi-Crema-Soncino tram, which contributed to the development of the territory.

Administration

Over the years, Ticengo has seen several mayors alternate who, with their work, have contributed to the development and growth of the community. Ticengo is part of the Lombard Union of Fontanili Municipalities together with Casaletto di Sopra and Romanengo.
