The History of Terranuova Bracciolini

Founded in 1337 by the Florentine Republic, Terranuova Bracciolini was originally called Castel Santa Maria and was built as one of the "walled lands" to defend the Valdarno. In 1862, in honor of the famous humanist Poggio Bracciolini, who was born there, the city changed its name to Terranuova Bracciolini.
