Terranova dei Passerini: An Agricultural City with a Long History

Terranova dei Passerini is a small and ancient agricultural city situated in the province of Lodi in Lombardy, Italy. With a population of 931 inhabitants, the city has been known for centuries as "Terra Nuova." During the Napoleonic period, in 1809-1816, Cassina dei Passerini and Rovedaro were united with Terra Nuova, but gained ephemeral autonomy with the constitution of the Lombard-Venetian Kingdom, before being definitively united in 1837.

In 1863, Terra Nuova officially became "Terranova dei Passerini" in honor of the politician Rinaldo dei Bonacolsi, known as Passerino. The city has a long history and a very interesting cultural and artistic heritage.

The coat of arms and the flag of Terranova dei Passerini were granted through a decree by the President of the Republic on February 18, 1973. The city's coat of arms consists of a heart-shaped shield, blue in color, with three golden arches. In the center of the shield is a silver five-pointed star.
