Settequerce: A Location Immersed in Nature

Hello everyone, today I want to talk to you about Settequerce, a small hamlet within the municipality of Terlano, located just a few kilometers from Bolzano, in the beautiful Autonomous Province of Bolzano. The locality has 844 inhabitants and is situated at 247 meters above sea level, surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards along the Adige river.

Origin of the Name

The name Settequerce comes from the German word "Siebeneich" which means "near the seven oaks". The place name has been around for a long time, dating back as far as the 12th century.

Beauty of the Territory

Settequerce is considered a prominent archaeological site, thanks to the significant number of discoveries from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. The area between S. Maurizio and Settequerce is called the "Heiliger Winkel", which means "sacred corner". Here you can enjoy incredible natural surroundings stretching for kilometers, with vineyards and orchards and views of the Adige.

Places of Interest

Among the places of interest are several monuments in the area. The parish church is the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while the Church of St. Anthony of Padua is incorporated into the Teutonic Order. There is also a place with alleged apparitions of Mary on September 27, 1992. Not far away is also Castel Greifenstein, also known as the "Castle of the Pig". Just above the village we find the Großkarnell noble palace, of great historical and artistic value.

Transport and Infrastructure

Settequerce is easily accessible by train or car, being close to cities such as Bolzano, Merano, and the Burgraviato area, the latter particularly known for its beauty. In addition, Settequerce is located along the Bolzano-Merano railway line and the old state road to Merano. The railway station has recently undergone a restoration to make it accessible for disabled people and more modern.
