Rocciano: Between History and Nature

Rocciano, also known as Rogiani or Rucciano, is a beautiful hamlet located in the municipality of Teramo, at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level. History

The history of Rocciano dates back to the Roman period. In fact, near the current village, there was a Roman road called "via Raussa". The first mention of Rocciano dates back to 1026 when Guiberto di Teutone made a donation to Bishop Pietro II of some properties located in different locations, including Rocciano. In addition, the village was the scene of violent clashes between bandits and French soldiers in 1799.

Church of Santa Lucia

One of the points of interest in Rocciano is the Church of Santa Lucia. This building dates back to the 17th century and has been renovated with a white plaster and red brick outlines that give it a unique appearance. The facade includes a small portal and a central oculus. The bell tower is located in the central position above the facade, and on one of the sides, there is the coat of arms of the family that owned the fief. The church has a rectangular plan with a single nave and a beautiful semicircular apse.
