But the most important moment for Borgonuovo came in 1860, when this hamlet was chosen as the location of the Teano Meeting between Giuseppe Garibaldi and Vittorio Emanuele II. This meeting marks the conclusion of the Expedition of the Thousand and the subsequent unification of Italy.
