History

Fratta is one of the oldest settlements in the municipality and is probably contemporary with the foundation of the capital. It was built on a strategic site thanks to its geographical location and the fertility of its soil. It grew over the centuries, becoming an important hamlet thanks to its beautiful architecture and the excellence of its agriculture.

Monuments and places of interest

Fratta is a true gem, with its historic buildings and ancient churches. The village is characterized by old houses with inner courtyards, wooden balconies, and sometimes decorated with religious-themed frescoes. A main attraction is the ancient church of San Martino di Tours, with its frescoes dating back to the 13th century. The church is a feast for the eyes and will remain forever imprinted in your mind.

Casa Rossi, Marcon

Casa Rossi is a beautiful 17th century building located in the heart of the village. It consists of two buildings and some adjacencies, with an internal courtyard that has been compromised by various interventions that have divided the complex into several dwellings. However, its original appearance can still be seen from one of the two sides facing the internal courtyard. Here you can appreciate the rectangular openings on the two floors and the attic, while on the ground floor there is a simple arched portal. To the west, a large round arch leads to the outer side facing the lake.

Cortile dei Genovesi

Cortile dei Genovesi is another attraction of Fratta located near the church of San Martino di Tours. It was inhabited for several generations by Genoese immigrants, hence the name. The surrounding buildings date back to the 17th century, including a house with an ancient religious-themed fresco painted by Antonio del Gobbo in the 18th century. The fresco depicts Anthony of Padua offering a bouquet of lilies to the baby Jesus. Recently, the artist Teresa Casagrande has renovated the building, restoring its original beauty.

Conclusions

Fratta is a unique place where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, its charming architecture, and the history that can be felt on every street of the village. The hamlet is easily accessible from Venice airport, ideal for a tourist visit or a carefree vacation. We are sure that you will not be disappointed by a visit to Fratta.
