Tamburo Lake is now one of the few remaining examples of the agricultural past of the Tamburi territory. It is a large wetland area that extends behind the neighborhood, quite close to the city center, and is currently a destination for migratory birds.
Economy
Industries
The Tamburi area is particularly rich in industrial activities: the largest chemical complex in Europe, the Taranto Steelworks, the LyondellBasell and Eni petrochemical complex, the former Ilva area, now Mah, and other important activities are located here. The district also houses an important company that markets industrial plants.

The daily market of the Tamburi neighborhood is located in Via Cavour, where there are shops of all kinds and equipment that make the area one of the liveliest and most active in the city.

Madonna di Costantinopoli Festival
Among the significant events celebrated in Tamburi, the Madonna di Costantinopoli festival, held on the third weekend in June, attracts many faithful and a large crowd of people who celebrate the event with games and food stands.
Madonna del Peralta
On September 2, Madonna del Peralta is celebrated in Peralta with a characteristic procession through the streets of the neighborhood, which is attended every year by faithful people not only from the area but also from neighboring cities.
Transportation
The area is well-served by public transportation thanks to the presence of several stops of the famous STP Taranto, the public urban transportation company of the city, which connects Tamburi to the center and other neighborhoods of the city. There is also a railway station on the Bari-Lecce line, which allows easy access to the main cities of southern Italy, Rome, and Milan.
