Taceno
Welcome to Taceno!
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about the town of Taceno, a beautiful village located in the province of Lecco, in Lombardy. Taceno has about 535 inhabitants and is located at the beginning of the Val Muggiasca, surrounded by the Cimone di Margno and Monte Croce di Muggio mountains.
Physical geography
Taceno extends over a territory that is crossed by the Pioverna stream. The climate of Taceno is typical of pre-alpine areas with hot summers and cold winters, with frequent frosts and winter night fogs due to thermal inversions. The average annual rainfall is typical of a pre-alpine locality and is around 1500/1600 mm. Snowfall is very frequent with an average snowfall of about 60/80 cm per year.
History
The territory of Taceno was already frequented in Roman times thanks to the presence of the Via Spluga, a road that connected Milan with Lindau passing through the Spluga Pass. During the territorial disputes between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice and until 1577, Taceno hosted both a Podestà seat (Middle Ages) and a vice-prefecture. Over time, many Tacenesi migrated to the territories of the Republic of Venice.
Monuments and places of interest
The most important religious building in Taceno is the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta, attested in the 13th century as ''Santa Maria in Taxeno''. The church has been serving as a parish church since 1406 and has been renovated over time. Other places of interest include the Oratory of the Blessed Sacrament in Neoclassical style and Tartavalle Terme.
Society
Taceno has experienced a rather fluctuating demographic evolution between 1722 and 1853, going from 309 inhabitants in 1722 to 478 in 1853. Currently, the village has about 535 inhabitants. Many companies in the village are involved in metalworking.
In conclusion, Taceno is a fascinating village in the province of Lecco, where you can enjoy nature, history, and religious buildings. If you pass by here, don't hesitate to stop and discover all the beauties of this pre-alpine area!
