Stroppiana

Stroppiana: a small Piemontese municipality

Hi everyone! Today I will talk to you about Stroppiana, a small municipality located in the province of Vercelli, in Piemonte. With its 1174 inhabitants, Stroppiana is located halfway between Vercelli and Casale Monferrato, bordering the province of Alessandria.

History

Stroppiana has an ancient history, and its coat of arms attests to it. Granted by the President of the Republic decree on June 26th, 2006, the coat of arms depicts a golden castle on a blue background, with three merlons on top and three windows on the walls. The banner, instead, is a yellow flag with a blue border.

Monuments and places of interest

In the small town center of Stroppiana, there are several churches. The parish church of San Michele, dating back to 1760, houses a magnificent 18th-century organ and a carved wooden pulpit. The church of Santa Marta, on the other hand, houses the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre, a place of great interest for tourists and the faithful.

Society

Like many other small Italian towns, Stroppiana has experienced a demographic decline in recent decades. However, the community living here is very tight-knit, and the social fabric is strong.

Economy

The economy of Stroppiana is mainly based on agriculture. 90% of the area is cultivated with Oryza sativa, a particularly prized variety of rice. Despite the predominance of agriculture, the town provides essential services, and it is centrally located in relation to directions leading towards Milan, Turin, and Pavia.

Infrastructure and transport

Unfortunately, Stroppiana is poorly served by public transport. Between 1886 and 1935, the village was served by a stop on the Vercelli-Casale tramway. Still, since then, transportation services have been reduced. Currently, only bus services connect it to Vercelli and Casale Monferrato. The kindergarten and primary school are present in Stroppiana, ensuring children's education.

Administration

The administration of Stroppiana works for the community's good and seeks to develop the area sustainably.

Sport

The passion for sports is strong in Stroppiana, and the local football team is called Stroppiana L.N. It currently plays in the Serie A championship of the Centro Sportivo Italiano of the province of Vercelli.

Conclusion

Stroppiana is a quiet and welcoming place, where provincial life blends with unpolluted nature. Those who love peace and simplicity will undoubtedly appreciate this small Piemontese town.
