Hello friends! Today I will talk about a hamlet in the municipality of Stenico, in the autonomous province of Trento. It's called Sclemo and it's a place that has a very interesting history.
The history of Sclemo
During the First Italian War of Independence, precisely on the night of April 19 and 20, 1848, there was a great battle between the Austrians and the Lombard Volunteer Corps led by Gaetano Tibaldi at Sclemo. The latter attempted to march towards the city of Trento but were heavily defeated and forced to retreat. This episode was significant for the history of Trentino and marked the struggle for Italian independence.
Following the annexation of Tridentine Venice to the Kingdom of Italy in 1920, Sclemo became an independent municipality. However, in 1928 it was annexed to the municipality of Stenico.
