Origins of the name
The name Stanghella comes from the word "stanga" (bar or fence), although some claim that the name refers to the presence of ponds and swamps that were once in the area.

The municipal emblem was granted in 1930 and reflects the history of Stanghella: the green represents the ancient ponds and swamps, the wavy pole symbolizes the Santa Caterina canal, the red bands represent the vine rows, and the Supplizio della ruota at the top is the attribute of the patron saint, Catherine of Alexandria. The gonfalon, granted in 1979, is red and white.
