Beroide

Welcome to Beroide!

Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about Beroide, a beautiful hamlet of the municipality of Spoleto, in the province of Perugia. The first thing that catches the eye of Beroide are its walls surrounding the castle. The bell tower of the parish church of San Michele immediately stands out within the village.

History of Beroide

Beroide was at the center of local chronicles in 1440, when it led the opposition against Spoleto together with the castles of the plain. Cardinal Vitelleschi was forced to order the demolition of the walls. Today the castle has been completely restored thanks to the funds received after the earthquake of September 1997.

The church of San Michele

The church of San Michele in Beroide is one of the most beautiful monuments in the village. The neoclassical facade hides traces of medieval frescoes at the base of the bell tower. The church has been completely restored after the earthquake and offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.

The church of S. Antonio Abate

Also not to be missed is the church of S. Antonio Abate, which has a cycle of 16th-century frescoes on the life of the saint in the apse. The church has been restored in the roof at the expenses of the owners of the surrounding land, but unfortunately the structure shows some cracks that undermine its integrity.

The Eel and River Prawn Festival

If you are a lover of good food and find yourself in Beroide in August, do not miss the Eel and River Prawn Festival. A feast for the palate that offers dishes based on these gastronomic delicacies. On the official website of the festival, [http://beroide.it/ www.beroide.it], you can find all the necessary information to participate.

Conclusion

All in all, Beroide is definitely a destination to visit if you are in Umbria. The beauty of the village, the history that can be felt through its monuments and the good food will make you spend moments of peace and tranquility. What are you waiting for? Come and discover Beroide!
