Territory
Its territory, characterized by a mountainous and hilly landscape, ranges from the plateau of Monasterolo del Castello to the Tuf Valley, an area rich in sulphurous water sources with therapeutic qualities.
History
The Charm of Castles
Until a few decades ago, Spinone al Lago was known as Spinone dei Castelli, because it was part of a district that also included the neighboring towns of Monasterolo and Bianzano. This name testifies to the rich history of the territory, which had a period of great splendor especially in the Middle Ages, thanks to the presence of the powerful Suardi family, who ruled over most of the surrounding villages.
Symbols
The coat of arms and flag of Spinone al Lago, granted by presidential decree in 1970, faithfully represent its identity. On a golden background, the silhouette of Lake Endine is surrounded by red castles, which recall the ancient fortresses of the territory.
Monuments and Places of Interest
The Magic of the Tuf Valley
One of the most evocative and fascinating places in Spinone al Lago is the Tuf Valley. Here, among sulphurous water sources and limestone slabs, you can enjoy unspoiled and regenerating nature. For centuries, this area has been renowned for its beneficial waters: since the 19th century, the Municipality reserved the right for the population to draw and drink the water of the Fonte Spinosa free of charge, with a medical prescription. In 1982, the Parco Fontanino degli Alpini was equipped by the Municipality with the help of the Alpini and volunteers, where you can easily draw water and walk among the vegetation.
Civil and Religious Architecture
Among the main buildings of the town, the castle once stood out, now disappeared due to a decree of the Republic of Venice in the 15th century that provided for the demolition of the fortifications of the valley. There are, however, some testimonies of the ancient greatness of the Suardi family, such as the former house located in the town center, built in the 15th century on an ancient pre-existing convent, which preserves traces of frescoes in the inner courtyard.
The church of San Pietro in Vincoli, dating back to the 11th century, is instead the oldest surviving building. Enlarged and modified in the 15th century, it preserves numerous 16th century frescoes.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy some peace and beauty, come to Spinone al Lago: the cozy and picturesque town on the shore of Lake Endine, steeped in history and culture, will reserve you unique surprises and beauties.
