Pagliare del Tronto: history and origins of the name
Pagliare del Tronto is a former municipality in the province of Ascoli Piceno, now a geographical fraction of Spinetoli. The town was founded in the 15th century thanks to migratory flows from the Umbrian-Marche Apennines and the left bank of the Tronto River began to fill with temporary straw houses, called "pagghiare". In the 16th century, the settlement gained autonomy from the authority of Spinetoli. In the 17th century, the first permanent stone houses were built, and the Holy See confirmed the separation of Pagliare from Spinetoli, maintaining the autonomy conquered by the former. In 1866, Pagliare was annexed to the municipality of Spinetoli, of which it now constitutes the most populous agglomeration.
Mobility and transport
The locality has a railway station called "Spinetoli-Colli", located along the Ascoli Piceno - San Benedetto del Tronto railway, served by trains of the Trenitalia company. The urban and extra-urban public transport lines are managed by the START SpA company, with buses connecting Pagliare to Spinetoli, Ascoli Piceno, and San Benedetto del Tronto. Thanks to public transport, both residents and tourists can easily move around.
Natural oasis La Valle
In the vicinity of the Tronto River bank, there is the natural oasis "La Valle". The area includes a visitor center with a conference room and exhibition space, and a fauna area. Additionally, the area has been enhanced with a series of stone sculptures and a network of cycle-pedestrian paths with explanatory signs about the flora and fauna of the place. Near the trail, there is also an area where you can go horseback riding. The trail is located south of the oasis, beyond the bridge over the artificial lake.

Pagliare del Tronto was the first location in the Valle del Tronto to open a network of cycling paths. Cyclists can ride along the cycle path and admire the beautiful natural landscapes.
