Its history

The territory of Spinea dates back to the Roman age, but there are also prehistoric remains. Its geographical location facilitated colonization thanks to the numerous water resources, including the Musone, an easy way to communicate with the Venetian Lagoon. During the barbarian invasions, the territory experienced a decline, but during the Frankish era, the chapel of Orgnano was built in the Spinea area, dedicated to St. Leonard of Noblac.

The territory of Spinea

The territory of Spinea is entirely flat, with altitudes ranging from 3 to 8 meters above sea level going from southeast to northwest. There are no particularly significant waterways, but there are the Dosa river, the Cimetto river, the Parauro-Cimetto di Spinea ditch, the Cimetto ditch, and the Menegon-Cime-Tron canal.

Spinea today

As the twenty-fourth municipality in the Veneto region in terms of population, Spinea is, after Padua, the second highest in terms of land consumption and the highest in terms of population density. Today, its territory is part of the Metropolitan Area of Venice. Ecclesiastically, its territory belongs to the Diocese of Treviso and the Vicariate of Mirano.

What Spinea offers

Spinea refers to Mirano for both hospital assistance (Mirano Hospital, ULSS 3 "Serenissima") and higher education (Mirano School District). In the past, it belonged to the Miranese Electoral College, which, in addition to the seven traditional municipalities in the area, also included Pianiga.

Conclusions

Spinea is a city rich in history and art. Its favorable geographical location makes it a great option for those seeking a relaxing and tranquil lifestyle in a flat area but just a few steps from the magic of the Venetian Lagoon. Spinea offers many opportunities for those who choose to live or visit it. How about taking a tour of Spinea to discover more about its history and natural beauty?
