Spessa

Welcome to Spessa!

Hello everyone! Today we'll be talking about Spessa, a small but very welcoming municipality located in Lombardy, in the province of Pavia. With only 551 inhabitants, it's a truly peaceful village immersed in nature. But let's find out more about its history, society, administration, and much more!

History

To begin, we must go back to the 12th century, when Spessa was known as ''Spexa''. In the following century, it was divided into ''Spixia Suprana'' and ''Spixia Subtana'' (the current Spessa is probably the ''subtana'' one, being the ''Soprana'' the current hamlet of Sostegno). During these centuries, it was part of the ''Campagna Sottana'' of Pavia, and was ruled by the ''Fiamberti'' of Pavia. Later, from 1475, it was included in the fiefdom of Belgioioso, belonging to the Barbiano of Belgioioso. In the 19th century, it merged with the municipality of Spessetta Balbiani.

Thick, the welcoming country nestled in nature: history, society, and administration.

Society

Let's talk a bit about Spessa's society. Despite its small size, the population is very united and friendly. The demographic evolution has been quite stable in recent years, but nevertheless, social life is present, with the organization of traditional events and festivals. Furthermore, the community is committed to taking care of its territory, with the cultural association ''Amici di Spessa'' taking care of the maintenance of green areas and the promotion of local culture.

Administration

Spessa's administration is well-organized and attentive to the needs of its citizens. The current mayor, Giuseppe Rossi, works to constantly improve the territory, with the aim of promoting new tourist initiatives to showcase Spessa's beauty to the world.
