Sparone

Hello! Today I want to talk to you about a beautiful Italian city: Turin. Located in Piedmont, it is the capital of the region and has about 842,472 inhabitants.

An industrial city

Economy

Turin is Italy's third most important city and, along with Milan and Genoa, formed the famous "industrial triangle" during the years of the Italian economic miracle. Today, Turin is considered one of the country's major university, artistic, tourist, scientific and cultural centres. But not only that: the automotive industry plays an important role in the city, as well as the banking, insurance and IT sectors.

Turin: History, Culture, Sports and Innovation.

A city with ancient history

History

Turin has a long history that dates back to the 3rd century BC, when the city was founded by the Taurini. Later, the city was transformed into a Roman colony by Augustus. After the Ostrogothic rule, Turin became capital of the Duchy of Turin. It then passed under the nominal lordship of the House of Savoy and became its capital in 1563. In 1720 it was the capital of the Kingdom of Sardinia and in the 19th century became the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy.

A city with remarkable cultural heritage

UNESCO Heritage

Turin hosts numerous areas and buildings protected by UNESCO, including some palaces and areas belonging to the circuit of the Savoy residences in Piedmont (world heritage) and the Po hills area (biosphere reserve). Many works of art by prestigious authors such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo can be admired.

A sports-minded city

Sports events

Turin has been the venue for important sports events such as the XX Winter Olympics in 2006 and from 2021 (until at least 2025) will host the ATP Finals. The city has always had a great passion for sports and many champions of various sports disciplines are from Turin.

A city with good food

Food and wine

Turin is also famous for its excellent cuisine: vermouth, Gianduiotto, grissini and espresso coffee are just some of the specialties that can be tasted. In addition, the city is famous for its chocolate and artisanal ice cream.

A city at the forefront

Technology

Turin is an important centre for technological innovation. Companies in the sector are moving towards artificial intelligence and Turin is one of the main protagonists.

A city to discover

Architectural Heritage

Turin's architectural heritage is stunning and worth discovering. For example, the Mole Antonelliana, a symbol of the city, or the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge, a sumptuous 18th century residence.

If you have the opportunity to visit Turin, don't miss it: it will be an unforgettable vacation!
