Sovere

Hello friends! Today I will talk to you about Sovere, a beautiful municipality in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy. With a population of 5170 inhabitants, the village extends along the course of the Borlezza stream, in the wonderful Val Borlezza.

Physical geography

The territory of Sovere is divided into three parts: the Piazza and Sellere hamlets on the left bank of the valley, and the residential core of Sovere. The village is formed by two hamlets, San Martino on the right and San Gregorio on the left of the Borlezza stream. The territory is immersed in uncontaminated nature, with numerous surrounding mountains that offer the possibility of many excursions suitable for all users.

History

Sovere has ancient origins dating back to the Roman Empire, as confirmed by some findings from that period. The village suffered the raids of some barbarian tribes, but it was in the Middle Ages that the inhabitants of Sovere had to endure the most difficult periods due to the disputes between Guelfs and Ghibellines. These disputes concluded with the uniting with the Republic of Venice.

Sovere is characterized by numerous noteworthy constructions, such as the palaces located throughout the municipal territory.
