Sorradile

Sorradile: a small historic village in Sardinia

Hello everyone! Today, I want to talk about Sorradile, a small village nestled in the historic region of Barigadu, in the province of Oristano, on the beautiful island of Sardinia. Sorradile has only 355 inhabitants, but don't be fooled by its size: its historical and cultural heritage makes it a fascinating place to visit.

History

The area on which Sorradile stands has been inhabited since pre-Nuragic and later Nuragic times, as evidenced by the various archaeological sites present in the area, including domus de janas and nuraghi.

During the Middle Ages, the village was under Aragonese domination from the 15th century, becoming subsequently a fiefdom and passing in 1773 under the Marquisate of San Vittorio together with Bidonì and Nughedu Santa Vittoria. In 1839, the feudal system was abolished and Sorradile was redeemed from the Pes, the last feudal lords.
