History

The oldest traces of human settlement in the territory of Sorbolo date back to the protohistoric period of the “terramare”. Over the centuries, Sorbolo has undergone many cultural and political influences, from the founding of the colony of Parma in 183 BC to the fall of Rome.

During the Middle Ages, Sorbolo was involved in the struggles between the noble families of the area, including the Visconti and the Sforza. In the following years, the territory of Sorbolo experienced economic growth thanks to agriculture and handicrafts.
