The history of Trivero

During the Middle Ages, Trivero belonged for a long time to the archdiocese of Vercelli. In the 14th century, the area was involved in clashes between the followers of Fra Dolcino and the episcopal and feudal troops, which ended with Dolcino's capture on Monte Rubello, north of the town. In 1379, Trivero became part of the domains of the House of Savoy, along with much of Biella. In 1798, the tree of liberty was erected.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Trivero was granted by decree of the President of the Republic on October 6, 1953.

Monuments and places of interest

Located in the locality of Bulliana, the sanctuary of Our Lady of Brughiera is one of the most frequented in all of northeast Biella, along with the sanctuary of Banchette. Near Trivero, you can also find the Sanctuary of Mazzucco, originally dedicated to Mary and Bernard of Clairvaux, and then particularly to Anna, the mother of Mary.

Administration and other useful information

Trivero is part of the municipality of Valdilana, together with the former municipalities of Mosso, Valle Mosso, and Soprana, since January 2019. Before then, Trivero was an independent municipality, surrounded by numerous other municipalities. The city was also part of the Montane Community Valle di Mosso, abolished following the merger ordered by the Region of Piedmont in 2009.
