History
Solesino has a long and interesting history. It is said that there was a Roman settlement in this area, but the oldest written documents date back to 944 AD. In the 10th century, Solesino was owned by the Diocese of Adria-Rovigo, while in the 11th century it became part of the March of Este, which also erected a castle that was destroyed by Ezzelino III da Romano in 1249. In the early 14th century, the town was conquered by the Scaligeri family and in 1338 it passed to the Carraresi family. In 1405 Solesino was taken over by the Republic of Venice, which maintained control over the town for many years.
Symbols
The coat of arms and the flag of Solesino were granted by royal decree on March 7, 1929. The symbol represents the town's history: the battlemented tower recalls the destroyed castle, the trees represent the cultivation of mulberry trees and the ancient local vegetation, while the wavy band symbolizes the ancient course of the Adige River that flowed through the town until 589 AD. The flag, on the other hand, is a blue banner.
Monuments and places of interest
One of the most interesting places in Solesino is the church of Santa Maria Assunta, the patron saint of the town. It is a Romanesque church dating back to the 12th century and has been renovated several times over the centuries. Inside you'll find a white marble altar and frescoes and decorations from different periods.

Solesino is a lively town that hosts great events every year. Among the most anticipated events are the Sunday market and the beer festival, which take place between July and August and attract a large number of visitors of all ages. In addition, Solesino is particularly devoted to the Madonna Assunta and, every year during the week of Ferragosto, there is a great village festival in her honor.
