Arenella
Let's discover together the Italian neighborhoods called "Arenella"
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about a very interesting topic: the Italian neighborhoods with the name Arenella! That's right, you heard correctly, in Italy there are four neighborhoods that bear this name, each with its own peculiarities.
Let's start discovering them together!
Arenella, Naples and Palermo
The first Arenella I want to tell you about is located in Naples and is a very populous neighborhood located in the eastern suburbs of the city. In the area, there are various commercial activities and schools, making it an important point of reference for the inhabitants of the area.
The second Arenella I want to talk to you about is instead located in the UPL of Palermo, in Sicily. Again, it is a very populous neighborhood, located in the north of the city. Its origins date back to the construction boom of the '50s and' 60s when a vast series of buildings were built to meet the growing demand for homes.
Arenella, Syracuse
The third Arenella I want to tell you about is a fraction of the Italian municipality of Syracuse in Sicily, located in the eastern part of the city. It is a very quiet residential neighborhood surrounded by greenery, with a strong presence of villas and gardens.
The story of this neighborhood dates back to the end of the 19th century when the Syracuse train station was built. This event led to the birth of new residential neighborhoods, including Arenella.
Arenella, Zoagli
Finally, the fourth Arenella is located in Liguria, in the hamlet of Zoagli, a town in the province of Genoa. Here it is a small hamlet located about 2 km from the center of the village, surrounded by greenery and with a beautiful view of the sea.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, ideal for those looking for some relaxation and peace away from the chaos of the city.
Giovanni Arenella
In addition to neighborhoods, there is also a very important person who bore the surname Arenella, namely Giovanni Arenella. Giovanni was a partisan, trade unionist, and politician who dedicated his life to the struggle for the rights of workers and the disadvantaged.
Born in Naples in 1924, he was arrested in 1943 by the fascists because of his anti-fascist commitment, and later sentenced to 30 years in prison. After the end of the war, he fought for legality and for the affirmation of workers' rights, becoming the mayor of Naples from 1975 to 1980.
