Welcome to Sfruz - a little gem in Trentino
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a charming municipality that I recently discovered: Sfruz. We are in the province of Trento, and the village has only 371 inhabitants. But don't be fooled by its small size, because Sfruz hides a heritage of artisanal, gastronomic, and cultural traditions.
Monuments and places of interest
The village is dedicated to Saint Agatha, and its seventeenth-century church with a bell tower from 1747 is a gem of architecture. The view of the valley from the square is breathtaking. Other must-see attractions include Mount Roen and the Altopiano della Predaia, which can be easily reached from many neighbouring areas.

In the past, Sfruz was an agricultural village and still conserves the cultural tradition of the Sfruz potato.
Traditions and folklore
But it is especially the artisanal traditions that make Sfruz unique. Did you know that here they build the famous "Stufe a olle"? These are highly elaborate artifacts made with a "secret" that has been passed down from generation to generation in the village. At the beginning of the twentieth century, these stoves were even exported to Austria and northern European countries! Today, the original production of Sfruz has disappeared, but the construction of these artifacts continues throughout Europe. Mortandela is another delicacy that you must try.
Awards
But Sfruz is a village particularly concerned with the safety of its citizens, especially the little ones. In 2017, it was named "Friend of Children," thanks to the initiative of a road sign at the entrance of the village that reminds drivers to slow down because "in this village, children still play in the streets." This gesture led to a special mention of the National Road Safety Award "no more blood on the roads," which awards initiatives aimed at spreading road safety culture in our country.

The administration of Sfruz is very attentive to its community and its traditions, and this is reflected in the numerous initiatives it organises.
