Hello! If you're interested in learning more about Borgata Paradiso, you've come to the right place. Here you will find all the necessary information, collected in a clear and accessible way.
Origin of the Name
Let's start by saying that the name of the neighborhood, Borgata Paradiso or Borgià Paradis in Piedmontese, was taken from Cascina Paradiso, located in the current territory of Grugliasco. The farm was demolished in the 1960s. It is important to note that Borgata Paradiso in Collegno should not be confused with Borgata Paradiso in Settimo Torinese.
Location and Borders
Borgata Paradiso is located in the eastern zone of Collegno and is crossed by Corso Francia. It borders to the south with Borgata La Quaglia in Grugliasco, to the north with the "Aeroporto di Torino-Aeritalia" airfield (venue for the 2009 World Air Games), to the west with the Centro Zone of Collegno, and to the east with the Parella neighborhood of Turin.
Characteristics
Borgata Paradiso is mainly residential, but there are also some small workshops and plants. The neighborhood is divided in two by the main road, Corso Francia, and two transverse courses, Antony and Montello, both with a central green area. Many public buildings can be found here.
The center of the borgata is characterized by the church dedicated to the Vergine dei Poveri. Built between 1979 and 1981, this church features striking triangular exterior arches that were considered futuristic at the time.
Parco Paradiso
In the spring of 2011, Parco Paradiso was inaugurated, a large green area located near the border between Grugliasco, Collegno, and Turin. Although it is not located in the territory of Turin, it was built by the City of Turin because over half of its visitors come from the neighboring Turin district.
The park was opened after several years of work, and offers paths for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as play areas for children. The park covers an area of 70,000 m² and includes two existing schools, a kindergarten and an elementary school.
