Caleppio

Welcome to Caleppio

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a small town located in the metropolitan city of Milan: Caleppio. With its approximately 2,800 inhabitants, it is a fraction of the municipality of Settala and is located in a very interesting area of the Po Valley, between the Adda and Lambro rivers.

The history of Caleppio

Unfortunately, there is not much information about the history of this town, but it is known that it was founded by Settala, the current capital, and that in 1753 it was annexed to the municipal territory.

Caleppio: a small town between the rivers Adda and Lambro.

Description of Caleppio

Caleppio extends over a very large area, but compared to the number of inhabitants, row houses, villas, and two or three-story buildings prevail. The industries located on the outskirts of the town, furthermore, make it visually larger than it actually is.

There are two churches, one old one dedicated to St. Agatha and a more recent one built in 1992. Unfortunately, the historic center is not very crowded during the day and Via Bettolino I, which is located towards the intersection with Cerca Street, is the most frequented area of the town.

One of the most peculiar things about Caleppio is that Cerca Street literally cuts the town in two, making crossing the city potentially dangerous for residents. Many of the new buildings have been built west of the road, such as the 1970s Paola village, while another large residential area was built east of the historic center in the early 2000s, right behind the old church.

To the south of Caleppio, towards the state road 415 Paullese, there is a large industrial complex and a commercial center called "km 10". To the north towards Settala, on the other hand, there is another large industrial center.

Sports

The sports club in Caleppio is Caleppio Calcio.
