Settala
Welcome to Settala!
Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Settala, a small municipality located east of Milan in Lombardy. Here, there are only 7295 inhabitants, but many interesting features!
Physical geography
Settala is located in the Martesana, a geographical area of Lombardy, although there are some differing opinions on its location. The territory is characterized by a slight slope, which makes it lower in the eastern part. In the Middle Ages, that area had been touched by the swamps of Lake Gerundo, which no longer exists. However, Settala is still characterized by the presence of water, especially of the resurgence, and there are many of these scattered throughout the territory.
In addition, there are some watercourses derived from the resurgence or from the Muzza Canal, the oldest artificial canal in the Po Valley. Agriculture is an important activity in the area. In fact, the hydrogeological characteristics and the climate of the Po Valley have allowed the development of this sector, which is still vital to the economy of the area.
Settala's roads
Settala is crossed by three important roads: the State Road 415 Paullese, the Provincial Road 14 "Rivoltana" and the Via Cerca of the Province of Milan. These three roads are very important for vehicles and goods in transit and are connected to each other also by the Provincial Road 161 "Paullo-Vignate".
The Cerca road passes close to Settala, but cuts off the cemetery. In Caleppio, on the other hand, the road causes a literal division of the village and creates traffic problems. The roads are fundamental to the economy of the area, but can sometimes cause inconvenience to residents.
Settala and its hamlets
Settala is not only the capital, but also includes the hamlets of Caleppio and Premenugo. Caleppio was aggregated around 1753, while Premenugo was aggregated on January 17, 1869. These two hamlets have their own history and charm.
Caleppio, for example, has a literal division of the village due to the Cerca road, but also has a very ancient and fascinating church. Premenugo, on the other hand, is known for the rice fields that surround it and for the beautiful flower fields. In any case, both Caleppio and Premenugo contribute to the identity of Settala.
Living in Settala
Living in Settala means living in a quiet and relaxing place, far from the chaos of the city. Here you can enjoy the nature and beauty of the Lombard countryside. On the other hand, there are some difficulties related to public transport and to the presence of sometimes excessive traffic on main roads.
However, the community is welcoming and supportive. There are many associations and initiatives that promote culture and the development of the area. For example, there are village festivals, art exhibitions and concerts that involve all residents.
Conclusions
In summary, Settala is a magical and charming place, where nature and community are the main elements of everyday life. The resurgence, watercourses, main roads and hamlets contribute to the history and identity of the area.
Living in Settala means living in a peaceful and welcoming environment, where traditions and cultural initiatives are an added value for the community. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and enjoy life, Settala is the right place!
