Hello friends, today I will talk to you about Sermide and Felonica, a municipality located in the northern Italy in the province of Mantua, Lombardy. With its 7212 inhabitants, this municipality was previously called only Sermide until March 1, 2017 when, thanks to a popular consultation approved by both municipal councils, it merged with Felonica. This union put an end to a division that lasted 202 years, when the Austrian authorities decided to separate these two inhabited centers, headquarters of different parishes.

Sermide and Felonica is the easternmost municipality in the province of Mantua and Lombardy, located in a strip of land wedged between Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. The inhabited center of Sermide is crossed by the 45th parallel (geography). This municipality is characterized by the low Mantuan dialect, which here is influenced by the proximity of the Transpadana ferrarese, the province of Modena and the province of Ferrara.
Symbols of the municipality
The coat of arms and flag of the municipality of Sermide and Felonica were granted by presidential decree on September 11, 2017. The flag is a white banner with a red border.
Demographic evolution and spoken languages
The municipality of Sermide and Felonica has seen a constant demographic evolution and growth in recent years. The language spoken here is the low Mantuan dialect, which has been influenced by the Ferrarese dialect. In fact, the typical "z" of Ferrarese is softened with an "s" and the accent rounds towards a more central Emiliano.
Infrastructure and transportation
The municipal territory of Sermide and Felonica is served by the Sermide station and the Felonica Po station on the Suzzara-Ferrara railway. It is therefore easy to reach the municipality by train, a very convenient option for anyone nearby.
Administration
The administration of Sermide and Felonica is represented by Mirco Bortesi, head of the Sermide and Felonica Together civic list. Bortesi was elected on June 11, 2017, replaced by Prefect Commissioner Mario Rosario di Rubbo from June 6, 2018, until May 27, 2019, and then returned to lead the municipal administration after the May 27, 2019 elections.
