Welcome to the province of Campobasso!

The province of Campobasso is a beautiful area in Molise, which includes 84 municipalities and over 200,000 inhabitants. In our journey to discover this province, we will focus on the physical geography of the area, the enchanting terrain that distinguishes it, and its hydrography.

Physical Geography:

Our journey starts from the mountains of the Sannio Apennines and crosses hills, lakes, and rivers, finally reaching the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The province is characterized by a very diverse terrain, where you can find villages, towns, and cities.

The magic of the province of Campobasso: mountains, rivers, and sea.

Terrain:

The province of Campobasso is crossed by the valleys of the Trigno, Biferno, and Fortore rivers. These rivers generally have a straight course, surrounded by hills and mountains slopes, then expanding considerably near the sea.

Hydrography:

The province is crossed by numerous rivers, including the Biferno, Fortore, Trigno, and Tammaro. The Biferno, 84 km long, crosses the lake of Guardialfiera, which was created thanks to the dam on the river. The Fortore, 110 km long, crosses the lake of Occhito and marks the border between Molise and Puglia. The Trigno, 85 km long, marks the border between Molise and Abruzzo. Also, the province is characterized by two artificial lakes, including the suggestive lake of Guardialfiera, which is crossed by two viaducts that go over the dam.

Overall, the province of Campobasso is a splendid place with a variety of unique landscapes. We are sure that the locals would be happy to welcome you and show you the beauties of the province.
