Located on the opposite side of the valley from Grevo, Novelle is easily accessible from the state road 42 of Tonale and Mendola, thanks to its connecting road with the Cedegolo station. History of Novelle
Novelle does not have a rich history of events, but it underwent a dramatic event in 1760, when a fire destroyed half of the town. Today we find the festival of St. James the Greater, the patron saint, on July 25th and the festival of St. Barbara, patron saint of miners and artillerymen, commemoration of work-related deaths, on December 4th.
Monuments and Places of Interest
Novelle also offers monuments and religious architectures such as the parish church of San Giacomo, dating back to the seventeenth century, which preserves a stone altar from Sarnico and some frescoes depicting different saints. Also, there is the church of the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Casa Nòa), an even smaller church than the parish, where a statue depicting St. Barbara, the patron saint of artillerymen and miners, is kept. There is also a monument dedicated to civilian disabled people. If you are interested in history, you can visit the Sellero Municipal Park, which extends between the two villages (Sellero and Novelle) and contains rock carvings from Valcamonica.
Traditions and Folklore
Novelle has a particular tradition in the naming of its citizens. The scütüm are nicknames in the Camuni dialect. The typical one for Novelle's inhabitants is "Gàcc" (cat).
