In this brief guide, we will take you on a discovery of this location, its geographical position, and the importance of the waters that run through it.

Physical geography

Sant'Ambrogio di Grion is located in the center of the Veneto region, in an area rich in springs, halfway between the Venetian lagoon and the springs that extend between the Brenta and Piave rivers. It borders the provinces of Treviso and Venice and is located in the northeastern part of the province of Padua.

Sant'Ambrogio di Grion: between nature and history along the Dese river.

Hydrography

The village is crossed by the Sant'Ambrogio stream and the Dese river. Along the latter, during the Middle Ages, numerous mills powered by water wheels were built. Today, among these, the Zanini Mill, also known as the Rossi Mill, is an area of particular environmental-naturalistic value. It is possible to reach it by traveling along Mulino Vecchio street, a side street of Ramo street, and enjoy an experience of peace and tranquility, also suitable for cycling during the summer season. Further downstream, beyond Ramo street and the Bellato Mill, you arrive at the Prati di Sant'Ambrogio, once frequented by locals for picnics and outdoor excursions.

The Dese River

The Dese River has great importance in the history of the area. Its course, which originated south of Resana in the province of Treviso and was a spring, was artificially diverted northward and then flowed into the waters coming from Castelfranco Veneto. The Dese enters the territory of Sant'Ambrogio di Grion from the municipality of Silvelle, then crosses the provincial road n.44 "Strada di Sant'Ambrogio" to the south of the town. Leaving the town, the river crosses Ca 'Nove di Scorzè.

Over the years, the Dese River has created areas of particular naturalistic and tourist interest. As mentioned, the Zanini Mill represents an area untouched by conduit mills that recalls past times. Not far from here are the ancient meadows of Sant'Ambrogio, today reduced by agricultural progress but once a destination for different Sunday and Easter Monday trips in search of a day of peace and relaxation.

In summary, Sant'Ambrogio di Grion is a perfect example of how nature and history find their ideal balance. If you are looking for an experience that allows you to savor a corner of peace not far from the city, Sant'Ambrogio di Grion and the Dese River are the best choice.
