Physical geography
Scano di Montiferro is located at the foot of the beautiful Montiferru mountains, 385 meters above sea level, and is surrounded by the territory of the Montiferru natural protected area. Among the highlights of the territory, there are Monte Sa Patada, with its 948 meters above sea level, and the Promontorio di Monte Ruinas.

History
The history of Scano di Montiferro can be traced back to the Nuragic and Roman period. In the Middle Ages, it was part of the Giudicato di Torres and the territory housed a monastery founded by the Camaldolesi. In the fifteenth century, it passed under the Giudicato di Arborea, until the Aragonese conquest of Sardinia, which was followed by the subjugation of Scano to the Aragonese. Throughout history, the town has suffered from various epidemics and wars, which have led to the loss of inhabitants of the territory, such as in the case of the medieval settlements of San Leonardo de Siete Fuentes and Lucentina.
