San Cassiano: history, nature and good food in Sarnano.

History

San Cassiano has an ancient and fascinating history, but unfortunately, it was severely affected by the earthquakes that hit Central Italy in 2016 and 2017. On December 31, 2017, the displaced persons finally received emergency housing solutions after a long wait. The delay in delivery was decided by the then-mayor of Sarnano, Franco Ceregioli, due to the dilapidated conditions and negligence of the housing modules.

Fortunately, after these events, the hamlet began to rise again and renew itself, revitalizing the local community.

Monuments and places of interest

The Church of San Cassiano is one of the most important monuments of the hamlet. Dating back to the 13th century, it is in Romanesque style, with a brick facade. Inside, the walls are frescoed and there are numerous paintings.

But San Cassiano offers much more. For nature lovers, the area is perfect for hiking and discovering the unspoiled nature of the area. For the more sporty, there are many outdoor activities such as trekking, mountain biking, and paragliding.

Notes

In addition, the hamlet of San Cassiano is famous for its popular festivals where you can taste typical dishes of the Apennines, such as the famous porchetta of San Cassiano.
