Monuments and places of interest
Santa Flavia has several monuments and places of interest that are worth a visit. One of these is the Soluntina Basilica of Sant'Anna, a beautiful church built in the fifteenth century and dedicated to Saint Anne, whose interior preserves works of great value.
Another noteworthy church is that of Maria Santissima del Lume - Porticello, whose construction began around 1800 by the fishermen's will, but was interrupted for economic reasons. Work resumed in 1805, thanks to the donations of Antonia Joppolo Filangeri princess of Santa Flavia, Maria Carolina d'Asburgo-Lorena, and the archpriest of Santa Flavia.
Inside the church, you can admire the beautiful painting of the Madonna del Lume, painted on slate probably in 1722 by the Jesuit missionary father Giovanni Antonio Genovesi. The church underwent several renovation works in the 50s and 80s, becoming the point of reference for the religious community of Santa Flavia.
