Sant'Omobono Terme
Sant'Omobono Terme: a small gem in Lombardy
Sant'Omobono Terme is a Lombard municipality with just under 4,000 inhabitants located in the beautiful Valle Imagna, a charming area that extends into the heart of the Orobie Pre-Alps. The history of the village dates back to the Middle Ages and is intertwined with the struggles between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. The area was predominantly Guelph and boasts an ancient legend of a saint who allegedly drove away a dangerous dragon that infested the area. The saint was later proclaimed the patron saint of the hamlet of Mazzoleni, and the name "Sant'Omobono" was chosen for the village.
Medieval history
The town of Sant'Omobono Terme is located in a strategic area that has seen several historical events unfold over the centuries, including the struggles between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. Over the years, the situation has changed several times, and the area fell under the control of the Visconti lords of Milan, who extended their dominion over the territory. However, when the area came under the control of the Republic of Venice, the village of Sant'Omobono Terme, being Guelph, received preferential treatment. Despite the area being affected by continuous changes of domination, the community of Sant'Omobono Terme resisted its isolation and followed the events in the rest of the province without directly participating.

Modern history
Starting from the 18th century, the area began to gain a certain notoriety thanks to the presence of highly prized sulfurous waters, whose qualities were also mentioned in the writings of Giovanni Maironi da Ponte. These waters were classified, in the mid-19th century, as among the best known in Italy, giving rise to an industry linked to their exploitation so important that it allowed the change of the name of the village from Sant'Omobono Imagna to Sant'Omobono Terme. The village became an important thermal center, and an industry related to health and wellness developed, which had a strong economic impact on the area.
Sant'Omobono Terme today
Today, Sant'Omobono Terme is a small gem in Lombardy, a municipality that has preserved its historical and cultural heritage, offering also cutting-edge solutions for the well-being and health of its residents and visitors. The village is renowned for its sulfurous waters, whose beneficial properties have been recognized for centuries. The thermal center offers a wide range of services dedicated to health and well-being.
The municipality has recently been affected by an important event: the referendum on the annexation of the municipality of Valsecca. The proposal was submitted to the population and had a favorable outcome. This is an important decision for both villages and the area, which is preparing for new challenges and opportunities.
In summary, Sant'Omobono Terme is a charming place that encloses the history and beauty of the Valle Imagna. A municipality that looks to the future without forgetting its roots and offers innovative solutions for well-being and health.
