Hi everyone,
Today I want to tell you about two very important saints of the Church: Saint Arsenius of Armo and Saint Arsenius the Great. I will also talk to you about the municipality of Sant'Arsenio, located in the province of Salerno.
Saint Arsenius of Armo
Saint Arsenius of Armo was a Byzantine monk who lived in Calabria in the 9th century. His life was marked by numerous miracles and wonders. According to tradition, during his earthly life, Saint Arsenius of Armo visited the Monastery of San Giovanni in Fiore, where he met Saint John of Matera. Together with him, Saint Arsenius founded the monastery of San Nicola di Baronia.
Saint Arsenius of Armo died in 915 and the church of Sant'Arsenio, located in the homonymous municipality, is dedicated to him.

Saint Arsenius the Great
Saint Arsenius the Great, on the other hand, was a saint who lived between the 4th and 5th centuries. According to legend, he went to the desert to escape the corrupted environment of the city. There, he lived for many years in solitude, dedicating himself to prayer and meditation.
After some years, Saint Arsenius began to receive the visits of many disciples who followed him into the desert. This is how his teaching and training activity of numerous monks began.
Saint Arsenius the Great died at the age of 120 years, but the influence he had on his disciples and on the Church in general remained for a long time.
