History

Some remains of rustic villas remain from the Roman period and numerous terracotta votive offerings were unearthed in the archaeological site of Linna Pertunta.
The town was donated by Judge Mariano II Torchitorio II to his son Costantino II Salusio III and was annexed by the Judicate of Arborea after the fall of the Judicale kingdom of Calari in 1258. In 1295 Mariano II of Arborea ceded the town with its territories to the Republic of Pisa and in 1326 it passed directly to the Aragonese crown.
