Ponte di Ferro
Introduction
Hello! Today we will talk about the toponym "Ponte di Ferro" and the various places in Italy where it has been used.
Bridges
The first example of "Ponte di Ferro" that I want to present to you is the one on the Cecina river, in Pomarance (Pisa). It is a very famous road bridge, especially because it was built entirely in iron. For this reason, it was nicknamed "Ponte di Ferro".
But it's not the only bridge with this name! In Ragusa, for example, there is a bridge over the Irmino river that the locals also call "Ponte di Ferro". From Rome instead comes the news of the "Ponte dell'Industria", a very important railway bridge, also called "Ponte di Ferro" by the city's inhabitants.
And if we go further north, to Turin, we will find the "Ponte Maria Teresa", a historic bridge over the Po river that attracts many tourists and, of course, the people of Turin who affectionately call it "Ponte di Ferro".

Cities and towns
But it's not just bridges that can be called that! Some cities and towns in Italy also have this toponym, such as Sant'Anastasia (Naples), which has a fraction called "Ponte di Ferro".
Curiosities
I have to tell you that "Ponte di Ferro" is not an exclusive toponym of our country! In France, for example, there is the famous "Pont de Fer", a suspended bridge made of iron that connects the municipalities of Sauveterre-de-Béarn and Os-marsillon. In Wales, on the other hand, there is the famous "Iron Bridge", an arched iron bridge that crosses the River Severn.
