Sant'Alessio Siculo
Sant'Alessio Siculo: a town in the Valle d'Agrò
Sant'Alessio Siculo is a town in the metropolitan city of Messina, located on the Ionian coast of Sicily. In the past, the territory where the town is located was characterized by the raids of Saracen pirates, which limited its development and made it dependent mainly on the economic activity of Forza d'Agrò, a neighboring town of Sant'Alessio. With the cessation of raids and the development of coastal communication routes, the region experienced demographic growth and Sant'Alessio grew as an urban nucleus. During the Second World War, the town experienced Nazi brutality with the atrocious murder of the town's archpriest and other victims.
