Colli di Fontanelle
The Colli di Fontanelle: a charming place
If you're looking for a peaceful place immersed in nature, I recommend visiting the Colli di Fontanelle. This hamlet of Sant'Agnello, located on the Sorrentine Peninsula, has a privileged position that will allow you to enjoy a breathtaking panorama.
Physical geography
The Carlo Sagristani square, located at an altitude of 318 m, offers a spectacular view of Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, Piano di Sorrento, and Meta, with the background of the Gulf of Naples and the islands of Li Galli. Legend has it that these three islands are the place where the sirens from Homer's Odyssey bewitched sailors, causing them to crash on the rocks. Here, Ulysses managed to avoid this trap thanks to a tactic that can be read in the ancient story.
On the Picco Sant'Angelo, the highest peak of the Colli di Fontanelle at 465 m, you can see a large iron cross. This replaced the ancient wooden one.

History
The name "Colli di Fontanelle" refers to the numerous water sources that disappeared over the centuries.
Monuments and places of interest
The church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1883 by Commendatore Francesco Saverio Ciampa, replacing an ancient chapel. It is a baroque-style building, with a single nave, located on the top of the hill. Although the earthquake of 1980 caused damage, it was carefully restored and houses a beautiful painting depicting the Nativity of Mary.
Society
Festivals
The festival of typical agricultural products of the area is held in September and is very popular with visitors.
Initiatives
During the first week of August, popular games are organized in the main square of the Colli di Fontanelle that involve all the residents of the hamlet.
So, what are you waiting for? Come and discover the Colli di Fontanelle and let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of these places.
