Welcome to San Pietro di Feletto

Hello everyone! Are you ready to discover the small yet charming town of San Pietro di Feletto in the Treviso province, located in the Veneto region?

Physical Geography

Firstly, it's important to know that San Pietro di Feletto is a scattered municipality, whose main center is not the eponymous village but that of Rua di Feletto. The town is located on the morainic hills northwest of Conegliano, covered with vast expanses of vineyards, especially of the Prosecco grape variety. In fact, one of Italy's most appreciated wines in the world with a controlled designation of origin is produced in this territory. Amidst the vegetation, one can admire groves of black locust and chestnut trees, while the town itself is characterized by the numerous rural houses scattered on the undulating surface of the hills, which overlook the ancient parish of San Pietro.

Etymology

The name Feletto comes from the Latin "filix" or fern, referring to the wooded nature of the area. This name attests to the significance of nature in this municipality, where the vegetation never fails to amaze visitors.

History

The history of San Pietro di Feletto probably began around the 7th or 8th century when the church of San Pietro was erected, which would be built on the ruins of a pagan temple. The sacred place becomes the headquarters of a powerful parish, whose jurisdiction extended to several areas of the surrounding territory, including Formeniga, Collalbrigo, and Refrontolo. In the 11th century, the parish was donated to the bishop of Belluno and subsequently conferred upon the consortium of Conegliano, to later become a part of the Venetian Republic.

Symbols

The ancient parish of San Pietro, which played an important role in the history of the area, is depicted in the municipality's coat of arms. The banner is a white cloth.
