Acquasanta
Welcome to Acquasanta: a unique hamlet!
If you're looking for a quiet and uncrowded place immersed in nature, Acquasanta is the right place for you! This geographical hamlet is part of the province of Ancona and is the only one in the area that belongs to the municipality of San Marcello. It is located at 224 meters above sea level, about five kilometers from the center of the municipality. The peaceful and relaxing atmosphere of this small village pampers its 76 inhabitants.
The Acquasanta church
One of the main attractions of the place is the Acquasanta church, dating back to the first half of the 1500s. The building has a regular single nave plan with a square apse and is considered one of the oldest places of worship in the area. The church is located away from the center of the municipality and is managed by the diocese of Jesi. Inside, there is a plaque commemorating the date of construction in 1524. Local tradition tells that there was a well with healing waters inside, where the faithful in search of grace sought purification. In 1952, the well was closed and made visible only through a glass cover. Next to the church is the bright-colored rectory building, which completes the suggestive appearance of the square facing the church.
The Acquasanta motocross track
Until 2010, the Acquasanta area was also known for the motocross track and its corresponding off-road racing. This reference point for two-wheeler enthusiasts unfortunately closed, however, the area is still extremely suggestive and a walk along the old paths for the riders can be an interesting spectacle.
How to reach Acquasanta
Acquasanta is well served by a bus service managed by Conerobus, which makes it easily accessible from San Marcello and the surrounding areas. The presence of the church and the motocross track have made this place particularly known to enthusiasts of religion and motors, but also for those who love walks in nature or simply want to relax.
Conclusions
Smaller than other surrounding hamlets, Acquasanta is undoubtedly a little jewel set in the hills of the Marche region. If you're looking for a quiet place where you can observe the places traversed by history, Acquasanta is the right place for you. The nature, tradition, and hospitality of the inhabitants will make your visit to Acquasanta unforgettable.
