Pancole
Pancole: an ancient Tuscan village
Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Pancole, a hamlet of the municipality of San Gimignano, in the province of Siena, Tuscany. The village dates back to the high-middle ages and has a long history, but don't worry, I will talk to you about it in a simple and friendly way.
History
The village of Pancole has ancient roots, as evidenced by the church of San Pietro, around which the first settlement developed. In 1109, Count Ugo dei Cadolingi, known as Ugolino, confirmed some assets to the abbot of the Morrona abbey "in Pancule near the church of San Pietro within the parish of Cellule in the Volterrano County."
Pancole also had jurisdiction over the nearby castle of Colle Muscoli (now Collemucioli) and the Tura di San Quirico. In the seventeenth century, the Sanctuary of Mary Most Holy Mother of Divine Providence replaced the church of San Pietro, and the care of San Quirico was suppressed. In 1833 there were 107 inhabitants in Pancole.

But Pancole also offers civil architectural beauties, such as the Fattoria di Pancole and the Castle of Collemucioli.

The territory of Pancole includes the main inhabited center, which has 116 inhabitants and is located at 272 m above sea level, and numerous rural hamlets such as Campacci, Casa Boschetti, Casa Nuova, Cellole, Collemucioli, Le Cannelle, L'Olmo, Molino Mocali, Piazzetta, Pietrefocaie, Salone, San Quirico, Sferracavalli, Villa La Ripa, and Villa Zanetti.
