The terrain of the province is very varied: from the sea to the mountains of Serre. On the coast, there are several villages characterized by the port and the industrial retroport areas such as Vibo Marina. The province is also famous for Lake Angitola and the recent discovery of an extinct volcano, about 120 meters deep off the coast of Capo Vaticano.

The climate of the province of Vibo Valentia presents various nuances, from the Mediterranean to the Tyrrhenian and chestnut. Along the coasts, winters are very mild and snowfalls are very rare, while summers are hot. At higher altitudes, winters are colder and snowfalls may occur.
