Ponte della Venturina

Ponte della Venturina: a village in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines

Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Ponte della Venturina, a charming village located in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. With its 1450 inhabitants, this location is part of the municipality of Alto Reno Terme, in the metropolitan city of Bologna. Until 2015, it was part of the municipality of Granaglione, of which it was the most populous village and the seat of the major productive and commercial activities.

Physical geography

Ponte della Venturina is located at an altitude of 394 meters, just downstream of the confluence of the Limentra stream and the Reno river. Here there is a small equipped green area, locally known as "Il Parco". The bridge that crosses the Reno river constitutes the border with the region of Tuscany. The town develops at the intersection between the state road 64 Porrettana, which crosses it completely, and the state road 632 Traversa di Pracchia. This forms a single urban agglomeration with Porretta Terme, Pavana (Sambuca Pistoiese) and Borgo Capanne, another village of the municipality of Alto Reno Terme located at a higher altitude. In the 1980s, a small industrial and commercial area developed, which today houses about 30 companies and provides employment to many valley residents. However, most of the economic activities of the town revolve around the adjacent Porretta Terme.

Monuments and places of interest

Church of Santa Maria Assunta

One of the main monuments of Ponte della Venturina is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, built during the 1950s. The church was built on land made available by Pietro Vivarelli and Giovanni Mattioli, two inhabitants of the village. The church was consecrated on December 31, 1959. The building, of simple construction, has a gabled façade with a central rose window and two side single windows. Some steps in porphyry slabs precede the façade, creating a suggestive scenic effect. Inside the building, we find two plaques that commemorate Giovanni Mattioli and the twenty-fifth anniversary of the church, on the occasion of the Holy Year.

Infrastructure and transport

Roads

Ponte della Venturina can be reached via two important communication roads: state road 64 Porrettana, which connects Pistoia with Bologna; and the former state road 632 Traversa di Pracchia, which connects it to Pracchia.

Railways

The territory of Ponte della Venturina is crossed by the Porrettana Railway, on which the homonymous station is located.

I hope I have intrigued you with this story of mine. Ponte della Venturina is a special place, immersed in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines where nature and tradition blend in a perfect mix. What are you waiting for to visit it?
