Rumo

Rumo: my beloved town

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about my beautiful town, Rumo. Yes, even though it's small (we are only 802 inhabitants), these places have a charm all their own. Located in the province of Trento, Rumo is a scattered municipality that extends between the Pescara and Lavazzè streams, in the beautiful Val di Non.

Physical geography

The position of Rumo is truly special. Here, nature reigns supreme and gives us wonderful landscapes. It is located in the northern part of the Val di Non, overlooking the Brenta Alps that surround it, whose view is a sight to behold.

Rumo: between history and natural beauty of Val di Non.

History

From Neolithic times to the advent of the Romans

This valley, in the center of which Rumo is located, has been frequented by populations dating back to the Neolithic period. And the flint artifacts found near Lake Poinella confirm their presence.

Starting from 1400-1200 BC, the first tribes began to settle and numerous artifacts and testimonies attest to the influence of the "Fritzens-Sanzeno" culture. This culture belonged to the populations that ancient sources call "Reti", settled in the territory of our valley.

With the arrival of the Roman Empire, our valley also falls under the rule of Emperor Tiberius and Drusus, military commanders who conquered the area of the Western Alps. The war against the Reti, in fact, marks the end of the Iron Age in the Val di Rumo.

According to some writers such as Titus Livy and Pliny the Elder, the Etruscans also had a strong presence in this area. They represented a reference point for the alpine populations who maintained significant commercial relations with them, especially starting from the 6th century BC.

The De Gasperi-Gruber Agreement

During World War II, following the De Gasperi-Gruber Agreement, the predominantly German fraction of Sinablana was annexed to the autonomous Province of Bolzano. As a result, it became a fraction of Lauregno.

Conclusions

As you have understood, Rumo is a small town but is immersed in truly spectacular nature with an ancient and interesting history. The beauty of the landscapes and the culture that one breathes there make it an extraordinary location where it is possible to unwind from the frenetic city life and enjoy a few days of relaxation. If you are looking for tranquility, this is the right place for you!
