Origins of the name
The name of this city may derive from "Rutius" or "Erucius", both Latin personal names, to which the suffix "-anus" was later added, indicating belonging. The "Via Mediolanum-Ticinum", which connected Milan to Pavia, passed along this Roman road.
History
The history of Rozzano is very interesting and has seen the passage of various dominations and governments. In 1809, under Napoleon's government, the fractions of Torriggio, Cassino Scanasio, Pontesesto, and Quinto de' Stampi were united under a single administration. However, everything was soon annulled by the Austrian Empire in 1816. The annexation of Torriggio and Cassino Scanasio was then resumed in 1841, but it was only with Vittorio Emanuele II in 1870 that the final union with Pontesesto, which also brought Quinto with it, was sanctioned.

Rozzano is also home to the Telecom Italia Tower, 187 meters high and located in the eponymous business park, where Telecom Italia shareholders' meetings are held. Finally, the shopping center, the protagonist of a renovation in 2010, houses the largest vertical garden in the world, with an area of 1,262.85 square meters. This achievement earned it a place in the Guinness World Records.
Parks
If you are a nature lover, Rozzano offers several oases and naturalistic parks, including:
- The Smeraldino Oasis, designed and created in 2007, a vast park area located in the immediate vicinity of buildings and industrial buildings. Here, several animal species are protected, including the emerald toad, which gives the oasis its name.
