Rosolina Mare is a particular hamlet of the municipality of Rosolina, located near the Po Delta Regional Park, in the Veneto region and in the province of Rovigo. It is one of the most important tourist centers in the area and is mainly frequented during the summer season.

The Rosolina Mare peninsula is crossed by several dune ridges and is about 8 km long, 1-3 km wide, which separates the sea from the surrounding lagoons. The territory is characterized by the mouth of the Adige river, located north of the town, near the locality of Casoni. The beach extends along the entire length of the peninsula, while the pine forest covers it from north to south. In the locality of Porto Caleri there is the Litoraneo Botanical Garden and the Caleri lagoon, inhabited by several migratory and resident fauna specimens.

The history of Rosolina Mare

The conformation of the territory of Rosolina Mare has influenced its formation with the contribution of sediment from the Po and Adige rivers, and in particular the ancient branch of the Po called Po di Tramontana located in the locality of Boccavecchia. Settlements in the area were born in the 1950s and 1960s, first dedicated to fishing and later also to tourism.

Infrastructure and transportation

Rosolina Mare is reachable via the Provincial Road of the province of Rovigo, a branch of the State Road 309 Romea that almost consistently follows the course of the Adige river. The hamlet borders to the north with Isola Verde, a hamlet of the municipality of Chioggia, and to the south with the Island of Albarella.
