Rogno is a city rich in history and ancient traditions. It is believed that the area of Coren Pagà, near the municipality, was inhabited since the Mesolithic period, that is, about 6000 years ago. Important archaeological finds and rock engravings of considerable value, still visible today, have been discovered from this period.
But the populations that settled in this territory were many over the millennia: among them, the Cenomani Gauls, the Romans, and the Lombards. However, it was with the arrival of the monks of the Abbey of Marmoutier Tours, at the end of the first millennium, that Rogno began to develop as a center of culture and commercial exchanges.
Administration
Over the centuries, the municipality of Rogno has undergone various political vicissitudes: the territory passed from the Visconti family to the Malatesta, to end up under the Republic of Venice, which put an end to the disputes between Guelphs and Ghibellines.
With the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, in 1861, Rogno was annexed to the Province of Bergamo and since 1838 it has been separated from the district of Breno, becoming part of the district of Lovere.
